International Year of Co-operatives 2012

2012 is an exciting year for the co-operative sector as it's the United Nations International Year of Co-operatives. There are lots of ways you and your organisation can join in.

It's a great opportunity to get across the message that co-operatives are successful businesses, ready to meet the needs of a modern economy.

You could:

• promote the year on your website or promotional materials
• host an open day
• offer a work experience place in a co-operative to a student

Tell us what you are doing!

At the Wales Co-operative Centre we will be focussing on different sectors of the Co-operative Economy at different points in the year.  Look out for events that might interest you and tell us if you would like to be kept informed.

January – the Co-operative Economy in Wales    

• Launch of a new report into the co-operative economy in Wales: Senedd.

March – Business Succession

• Report looking at the benefits of employee ownership and a study visit. 
• Film screening - meet other co-operators and discuss new ideas.

June – Consortia Co-operatives

• Report looking at consortia co-operatives

October and November – Community Co-operatives

• Co-operative Expo in Manchester (week of 30th October). If your co-operative is interested in participating with us, let us know.

Other events

The Centre’s AGM takes place at the end of May and this year marks our 30th anniversary. Members are invited.
