Social enterprise in the service of the public
Social enterprise in the service of the public is a new report that seeks to promote and further encourage social enterprise activity in the design and delivery of Welsh public services, through an exploration of the benefits and barriers to this approach. It draws for evidence on nine social enterprises based in different locations in Wales and working in a variety of service sectors.
The report offers a number of recommendations for action by the three key stakeholders; social enterprises, public sector commissioners and the Wales Co-operative Centre/sector support agencies. They are bold and specific calling for:
- an adoption of an intelligent commissioning approach
- a sharper focus on public service outcomes
- and, an identification of the most appropriate level and scale of public service delivery.
The Wales Co-operative Centre would welcome your feedback on the report. Please contact Donna Coyle, Research and Development Officer via donna.coyle@walescooperative.org.
